St. John's Regional Medical Center, in Joplin has been awarded a "Partnership for Health: Rural Health Initiatives" grant by New York-Multi Plan Inc. and the National Rural Health Association.

The $5,000 grant was put toward the St. John's MedMobile project, which is a medical van able to travel to rural areas throughout the four-states area, offering medical attention to those who do not live near a hospital or clinic.

Twelve hospitals, representing nine states, shared a total of $55,000 in grants.
