Southwest Missouri News--Joplin

A Joplin restaurant has closed its doors after two years in the city.

Luby's Cafeteria closed early this month after company officials announced it had been sold.

The company announced last August that 14 of the chain's restaurants would be closed, including the Joplin location at 32nd and Range Line Road.

The restaurant had formerly been Wyatt's Cafeteria. Luby's, based in San Antonio, Texas, bought several of the Wyatt restaurants in 1996, converting them to Luby's Cafeterias.

Approximately 33 people lost their jobs because of the sale. Three former employees transferred to another location, and Luby's officials helped employees find jobs in other Joplin area restaurants.
