A local shelter for abused children is getting some added help.
The Children's Center of Southwest Missouri is set to receive $250,000 in federal funds.
The funds are earmarked for facility expansion of the Joplin center.
The monies are coming from the 1999 spending bill for Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development and Independent Agencies.
The expansion will include more office space, a meeting room, and therapy and interview areas.
