The Granby City Council has entered into a lease-purchase agreement with a Kansas City bondsman to finance a new natural gas distribution system.

Ed McLiney, hired in July as a consultant for the project, was contracted for the $1.4 million lease-purchase agreement. McLiney will use the feasibility survey and mapping services conducted on the city last fall by Utter & Associates Consulting Engineers, of Tulsa, Okla.

Granby's current gas system has been in place since the early 1960s. Construction of the new system, using polyethylene pipelines, is expected to take a year.
