Main Street Carthage is competing for awards for its efforts in downtown revitalization.
The organization submitted four entries in the Downtown Revitalization Awards. The awards ceremony will be held April 21 in Jefferson City.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development administers the Main Street program.
The four entries are The Schmidt Associates building for the Historic Rehabilitation Award; The Downtown Park for Facade Renovation under $5,000; SLM and Associates for Merchant of the Year; and finally, the Main Street historic street sign campaign was entered under the Public Improvement category.
Under the campaign, street signs in the city were replaced with old-fashioned style street signs to better suit the historic community.
More than 50 communities are competing in the contest.
