The Carthage Police Department is looking for a new police chief.

Earlier this month, Police Chief Ed Ellefsen resigned from the post after 19 years of service.

He has taken a job as director of the Mid States Organized Crime Information Center in Springfield.

Capt. Kevin Davis has taken over as interim police chief until a new one is named.

Ellefsen has worked in law enforcement since 1967. He previously worked as head of detectives with the Joplin Police Department.
