McCune Brooks Hospital, in Carthage, is looking for answers after its annual audit.
The latest audit reveals that the 1998 fiscal year shows a loss of more than $1 million.
The hospital benefited from a $622,000 profit just one year before.
Hospital administrators said one reason for the loss could be an increase in outpatient services and an increase in Medicare and Medicaid claims.
