The Carthage Business and Professional Women's Association presented the Woman of Achievement Award to Pamela Sue White.

The award was given to White at the organization's monthly meeting in October.

White was selected for the award because of her contributions to education in the area.

White is a counselor at Carthage High School and is a sponsor for "Friends for Life," a drug-free student group.

She is also works with the Future Teachers of America Club, Cadet Teaching Class and the Peer Helpers.

She served as area director for the Missouri Special Olympics for five years. She continues to serve as a volunteer for the games.

White is a wife and a mother of three adopted children and various foster children.

The Woman of Achievement Award is designed to recognize the contributions of working women in the community.
