According to the Building/Planning Department at the city of Branson, construction values last year totaled $22.9 million, up from $22.6 million in 1996. While there were no large, single projects built in the city in 1997, 100 condominiums accounted for $600,000 in new construction.
The city also reported that sales tax revenue was up 14.2 percent for November 1997 over November 1996.
The 1.5 percent sales tax generated $1,232,082 in November 1997 compared to $1,078,490 for the same period in 1996.
According to Branson Employment Service, November unemployment for Taney County was 4 percent, up from 3.3 percent in October, but down from 5.8 percent in November 1996.
