White River Valley Electric Cooperative Inc., of Branson, has entered into an agreement with Stone County, allowing the county sewer district the use of Roark Water and Sewer, a subsidiary of the cooperative, to oversee wastewater management for the Notch area.
According to White River Valley Electric's member publication, Current Times, the utility is diversifying like many other electric cooperatives across the country that are becoming "multi-faceted utility providers."
Cy Murray, director of community development for the cooperative, was quoted, saying, "In addition to providing the obvious environmental benefit, centralized water and sewer play an integral role in supporting future economic growth for rural communities."
The publication stated that Murray is also working with representatives of Taneyville, Highlandville and Theodosia to help them assess their community needs.
