The local Branson chapter of Trout Unlimited has received the second annual Community Award from the Branson Advisory Council on Disabilities. Trout Unlimited is a non-profit organization that promotes and educates citizens on trout fishing.
According to Walt Stone, chairman of BACD, the award is given each year to individuals or organizations for "efforts and achievements to the betterment of the disabled community."
Stone said Trout Unlimited received the award because it offers several casting and fly-fishing clinics for people with disabilities and senior citizens. The organization has taken groups of disabled citizens on fishing excursions and it works to ensure that accessibility to docks and fishing locations in the area is suitable for people with disabilities.
