Skaggs adds CT scanner|ret||ret||tab|

A new computed tomography scanner has been installed in the outpatient center at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson. |ret||ret||tab|

The new CT system will speed up the exam process and add to the range of diagnostic imaging procedures offered at Skaggs, according to a Skaggs release.|ret||ret||tab|

Computed tomography is a medical diagnostic radiographic tool that allows the visualization of internal structures within the human body. This aids physicians in diagnosing disease, viewing internal abnormalities and assessing the extent of trauma damage.|ret||ret||tab|

Commission awards bridge bids|ret||ret||tab|

The Jasper County Commission re-cently awarded bids on nearly $1.5 million in bridge projects scheduled for this year.|ret||ret||tab|

Part of the contract will go to Snyder Bridge Co. of Joplin, which bid $483,822 on two of the projects. The remaining six projects will go to Viebrock Construction Co. of Sedalia, on a bid of $989,460. |ret||ret||tab|

LaBarge wins radar contract|ret||ret||tab|

Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Electronic Systems has selected LaBarge Inc. as a supplier for Northrop Grumman's Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array radar system. |ret||ret||tab|

LaBarge will produce and integrate electronic components for the MESA program. Financial terms were not disclosed.|ret||ret||tab|

The MESA radar is a military airborne, surveillance radar system. The Boeing Co. will integrate MESA into its 737 AEW&C (airborne early warning and control) aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force.|ret||ret||tab|

LaBarge, which has been named a Northrop Grumman Preferred Supplier, also provides Northrop Grumman with circuit card assemblies and cables used for a variety of military applications.|ret||ret||tab|

The company also has manufactured and tested advanced automated postal sorting equipment on a turnkey basis for Northrop Grumman's Automation and Information Systems division.|ret||ret||tab|

Aaron's Automotive relocating|ret||ret||tab|

Employees working at the Aaron's Automotive plant in Joplin soon will have to decide whether they want to work for the company in Springfield or look for other work.|ret||ret||tab|

The company recently sent a notice to its employees announcing that it was relocating its Joplin transmission re-building operation to the Springfield plant. Approximately 220 to 230 people will be affected by the move.|ret||ret||tab|

The phase-down of operations in Joplin begins at the end of May and will end on Aug. 1.|ret||ret||tab|

The company opened the plant in Joplin in 1996 in the old Flemming Foods warehouse.|ret||ret||tab|

Aaron's Automotive is based in Springfield and is a subsidiary of After-market Technologies Inc., an Illinois-based company.|ret||ret||tab|

Sales tax to fund parks|ret||ret||tab|

A new quarter-cent sales tax went into effect April 1 in Joplin.|ret||ret||tab|

Sales taxes paid in the Jasper County section of Joplin rise 6.7 percent and those paid in the Newton County part of Joplin increase 6.85 percent.|ret||ret||tab|

The new tax is earmarked for the city's parks and stormwater drainage systems.|ret||ret||tab|

The tax increase is expected to produce about $1.53 million in new revenues the remainder of this fiscal year, which ends Oct. 31. The following full fiscal year, the new tax is projected to raise $2.66 million.[[In-content Ad]]
