The Jasper County Commission re-cently awarded bids on nearly $1.5 million in bridge projects scheduled for this year.|ret||ret||tab|

Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Electronic Systems has selected LaBarge Inc. as a supplier for Northrop Grumman's Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array radar system. |ret||ret||tab|
LaBarge will produce and integrate electronic components for the MESA program. Financial terms were not disclosed.|ret||ret||tab|
The MESA radar is a military airborne, surveillance radar system. The Boeing Co. will integrate MESA into its 737 AEW&C (airborne early warning and control) aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force.|ret||ret||tab|

The company recently sent a notice to its employees announcing that it was relocating its Joplin transmission re-building operation to the Springfield plant. Approximately 220 to 230 people will be affected by the move.|ret||ret||tab|

A new quarter-cent sales tax went into effect April 1 in Joplin.|ret||ret||tab|
Sales taxes paid in the Jasper County section of Joplin rise 6.7 percent and those paid in the Newton County part of Joplin increase 6.85 percent.|ret||ret||tab|
The new tax is earmarked for the city's parks and stormwater drainage systems.|ret||ret||tab|
The tax increase is expected to produce about $1.53 million in new revenues the remainder of this fiscal year, which ends Oct. 31. The following full fiscal year, the new tax is projected to raise $2.66 million.[[In-content Ad]]
