The facility was partially funded by $1.4 million in federal dollars secured by U.S. Sen. Kit Bond.
The Monett center serves more than 14 schools and offers career training, work experience and guidance counseling. Monett’s former center was in an outdated building that was too small to accommodate growth and did not meet the technological needs of the center’s curriculum, according to a news release.
Services at the center are aimed at high school graduates who choose not to attend college, people in the work force looking for additional training and unemployed people looking to improve skills and find work. Programs range from automotive and business technology to software design to health care.
There are 52 career centers statewide. Springfield has one, at 1514 S. Glenstone Ave.
