John Karr, project superintendent with R.E. Smith, said the 85,879-square-foot project is a single-story, metal structure with brick veneer. Charles Cudney, Ed.D., superintendent of Monett Schools, said the estimated project cost is $6.6 million for the shell building and parking lots. About $2 million of that will come from federal funds, with the rest being raised locally.
Cudney said the center offers courses in 16 programs, including auto-collision repair, construction technology, computer networking and culinary arts. Courses are available to high-school students during the day and adults in the evening. Dual-credit courses with colleges and universities also are available. Completion is slated for May.
