Southwest Airlines announced it would begin carrying overdose-reversal drug naloxone on flights.
The company has heard calls to add naloxone to flights from the likes of St. Louis-area resident John Gaal, who witnessed an apparent overdose on a Southwest flight in October 2022. Gaal helped revive the person with naloxone that he and his wife were carrying.
Southwest is updating its medical kits throughout the year to add naloxone to its entire fleet.
