Southwest Airlines 3Q results top estimates

Southwest Airlines yesterday reported third-quarter profits that topped analysts' expectations.

The company brought in $584 million in net income during the quarter, a nearly 78 percent increase from last year.

Diluted share earnings of 94 cents beat estimates of 92 cents.
