Southern rust found in Missouri corn

Southern rust, caused by the fungus Puccinia polysora, has been found in Missouri corn crops this season, according to a report by Missouri Business Alert.

So far in 2025, southern rust has been found in corn crops in 25 Missouri counties.

The report cited long periods of rainfall and high humidity in the western Corn Belt. It pointed to concerns for the dairy industry, which relies on corn silage to feed cattle.
