Southern Missouri Bank of Marshfield named Jerry Morgan president and CEO of the bank and Southern Missouri Bancshares, the firm’s holding company.
Morgan is an original bank investor and has served on the bank’s board of directors and executive committee.
Kent Hyde, chairman of the bank’s board of directors, said Morgan succeeds Ben Morgan – no relation – who died of a heart attack at the age of 59 in January 2012.
Hyde said William Holtmeyer served as interim president and CEO through April before he retired. According to an Aug. 6 bank news release, Jerry Morgan officially took the post July 17.
“I am honored to lead the bank that I have been a part of for the past 16 years. I am familiar with community and many of the bank’s customers and look forward to building on the relationships that we have developed over the years,” Morgan said in the release.
Southern Missouri Bank of Marshfield was founded in 1997 and today has 42 employees and $100 million in assets, according to the release. The bank operates two branches in Marshfield and in May it entered the Springfield market with a mortgage loan office at 3335 E. Ridgeview St., northwest of Battlefield Road and Highway 65.
Last month, Springfield Business Journal reported former Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield CEO Gloria Roling had taken a job as a mortgage loan originator at the new Southern Missouri Bank of Marshfield location. Roling said she left the HBA post because of time commitments connected to the declining health of her parents.
