Poplar Bluff-based Southern Missouri Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: SMBC), the parent company of Southern Bank, reported a nearly 24% increase in profits during the second quarter of its fiscal year 2026.
For the quarter that ended Dec. 31, the operator of three Southern Bank branches in Springfield reported net income of $18.2 million, up from $14.7 million in the same quarter a year earlier, according to a news release. Diluted share earnings increased to $1.62 from $1.30.
"The increase was attributable to an increase in net interest income, partially offset by increases in provision for credit loss expense, and noninterest expense, and lower noninterest income," officials said in the release.
As of Dec. 31, Southern Missouri Bancorp's assets were $5.1 billion and deposits were $4.3 billion.
SMBC shares were trading at $60.67 as of 9:20 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $45.10 to $65.64 per share.
