Southern Bank exec moves to Peoples Bank

A former Southern Bank executive is getting acclimated with a newly created top-level post at Peoples Bank of the Ozarks.

Jackie Bonner, who worked for nearly two years as vice president of the Springfield market for Southern Bank before her last day on April 10, started April 22 as Peoples Bank's first senior vice president and chief operations officer.

"I was attracted to them because they are a very community-oriented bank," Bonner said of taking the job with Peoples Bank. "The staff has a lot of longevity."

Bonner also previously worked a decade as COO and senior vice president of Metropolitan National Bank, which she said gels well with her new post.

"During my tenure at Metropolitan, I was senior vice president over retail, administration and marketing. My position here at Peoples Bank incorporates the COO position I had at Metropolitan and that retail piece together," Bonner said.

Bonner carries more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry. In her position at Peoples Bank, she is tasked with oversight of retail banking, information technology and operations.

"Jackie brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be very valuable to our organization," Peoples Bank President and CEO Jim Huff said in a news release.
