Southeast quadrant of Springfield among hottest housing markets in report

The ZIP code covering the southeast quadrant of Springfield is among the hottest housing markets in the United States, according to a new report.

The 65804 ZIP code ranks No. 41 on a list of the top 50 housing markets by ZIP code from Realtor.com. The report measures market demand and the pace of the market based on listing data from January to June.

The metrics for the 65804 ZIP code in Springfield are as follows:
• 2.1 viewers per property versus the U.S. average.
• 31 median days on the market.
• A median listing price of $358,000 in June.

No. 1 on the list is the 43230 ZIP code in Gahanna, Ohio. Others in Missouri are 63021 in Ballwin at No. 10, 65202 in Columbia at No. 32 and 65109 in Jefferson City at No. 35.

"As many companies continue to call employees back to the office, we're seeing a surge in home shoppers who are seeking a desirable combination of cost and convenience within commuting distance of major metropolitan areas," said Danielle Hale, chief economist for Realtor.com, in a news release.
