The franchise, owned by Sam and June Hamra, opened the 3558 S. Campbell Ave. restaurant Aug. 16 on a pad site at the Kickapoo Corners Shopping Center. The eatery seats 86 and employs about 40, led by General Manager Kim Koch.
The 3,178-square-foot building features an updated Wendy’s design that includes décor in earth tones, a café feel and a self-service drink station.
Construction costs were about $550,000, according to a Springfield building permit. Baron Design & Associates was the architect for the project, and engineers were Silverhill Co. LLC, structural; and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Wendy’s of Missouri has 17 other locations scattered throughout the state. An eighth Springfield Wendy’s is slated for Airport Plaza at West Kearney Street and West Bypass, Sam Hamra told Springfield Business Journal in June.
