A food truck that launched last summer relocated to the south side.
Gooey's Grilled Cheese LLC moved Tuesday to 3850 S. Campbell Ave., next to Pineapple Whip, according to the food truck’s Facebook page. It opened in July 2018 in the SGF Mobile Food Park near the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and Chestnut Expressway.
Owner Demetrius Wilson has said he came up with the idea more than two years before opening. He invested $30,000, comprising a small-business loan and savings, to start Gooey’s, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. Wilson could not be reached for comment this morning by deadline.
Menu items include classic grilled cheese, the BBQ Mac Stack, The Popper and a rainbow-cheese sandwich.
Gooey’s also has held lunch events in the past few weeks at Destiny Church in Republic, Walmart in Nixa and Mercy Clinic Services, according to its Facebook page.
Gooey’s relocation from SGF Mobile Food Park follows the March closure of Twisted Mike’s in the park. In 2014, SBJ reported the food park had seven vendors.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
