'Someone Still Loves You' films video in Boris Yeltsin town

Posted online
A Rolling Stone write-up on Springfield indie-pop artist Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin recounts the band’s trek through Russia to film the latest video, “Young Presidents.”

Last year, the band was flown to Russia to headline the Old New Rock Festival, which was not only sponsored by the Boris Yeltsin Foundation but also set in the town of Yekaterinburg where the former president began his political career. The video from 2013’s Fly by Wire compiles footage of band members at Moscow’s Red Square, sledding down a giant hill and playing an acoustic set at a school in Yekaterinburg, where they were later inducted into its Hall of Fame and conducted media interviews in front of the world's only statue of Yeltsin.

Rolling Stone says they also got to eat borscht with one of Yeltsin's former translators – who gifted them seven bottles of vodka – and watched a bunch of Russian clubbers get naked and dive into the snow outside the music venue. Finally, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin was deemed the day’s official cultural ambassadors by the U.S. consulate. Not bad for a day of work in Russia.
