Stacy Heydt, Owner of White River Alpacas, LLC, located outside of Marshfield, tells how she got into running an alpaca farm to breed and show alpacas. She also talks about the learning curve she encountered when starting a business she knew little to nothing about. She discusses how she learned to spin alpaca fiber out of necessity to try to figure out what to do with the animals once she and her husband owned the farm. Now she’s the chair of the National Alpaca Fiber Organization, which comes up with innovative ways to use the animals’ fiber. She also gives a mini-version of her fiber seminar and talks about why people love alpacas.
