Japan's SoftBank Group Corp. wants to buy Uber shares at a discount.
A person familiar with the matter told Reuters SoftBank offered to purchase shares in Uber at a valuation of $48 billion. That's 30 percent less that the company's most recent valuation of $68.5 billion.
Investors led by SoftBank and Dragoneer Investment Group plan to buy at least a 14 percent stake in the ride-hailing company.
