U.S. Senate Democrats have removed changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that had been included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Language in the bill had called for transferring some of the cost of operating SNAP to state governments. Democrats also successfully argued to remove a proposal that would eliminate Consumer Financial Protection Bureau funding.
Democrats reportedly argued before the Senate parliamentarian that certain parts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act did not comply with rules related to budget reconciliation bills.
