The gun maker will become known as American Outdoors Brand, according to a filing yesterday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
"We believe that changing our corporate name to American Outdoor Brands Corp. will better reflect our strategic focus on the shooting, hunting and rugged outdoor markets," Smith & Wesson officials said in a statement.
The company also owns other consumer brands like Hooyman and M&P, which manufacture outdoor tools and accessories. It will continue to operate the Smith & Wesson brand for guns.
