Small businesses invited to workers’ comp talk

Posted online
The National Federation of Independent Business/Missouri will host a discussion Thursday about the factors that play into workers’ compensation costs.

The event, scheduled for 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel, 3333 S. Glenstone Ave., is open to association member and nonmember small-business owners.

Topics will include how lawyers and judges affect the costs of workers’ compensation insurance, recent court cases and their impact on the cost of doing business, the Second Injury Fund, and legislation such as Senate Bill 1, which targets workers’ compensation reform.

The cost to attend is $15, which covers lunch; attendees can pay at the door. To register, go to www.nfib.com/object/IO_34069.html, call (866) 782-6390 or e-mail kathy.peerson@nfib.org.

The NFIB discussion is in conjunction with the Associated Industries of Missouri and Associated Builders and Contractors.
