|ret|SLS International Inc., which does business as SLS Loudspeakers at 3119 S. Scenic, launched its initial public offering June 19, according to John Gott, company founder, president and chief executive officer.

|ret|The company's stock, which is traded over-the-counter under the symbol SITI, had a good debut on the market.

|ret||quot|Our opening offer actually went out at like $2,|quot| Gott said, |quot|We had some sales at $2, and $2.25 and $2.50, and then we had some sales below that. It actually ended up leveling out at the end of the day at $1.20, but we (sold) 342,000 shares on the opening day.|quot|

|ret|SLS Loudspeakers is a 28-year-old company that originally was known as Sound |amp| Lighting Specialists Inc. The company primarily manufactures its SLS Loudspeakers line, but it also assists dealers with design of sound systems. Its clients are commercial music stores, Branson theaters and area night clubs among them and also churches and individual clients.

|ret||quot|We're now repackaging and working on some systems for cinemas as well,|quot| Gott added. In June 2000, SLS began offering its products wholesale.

|ret||quot|We spent about three years or four years developing our product line in-house here and selling them to our own customers that we had been doing business with as a contractor ... and these were the SLS speaker products that we developed here as an installation contractor design company,|quot| he said. |quot|Then we decided, because of the acceptance of the product and how the people liked it, there were other dealers across the country and across the world that could sell the product as well.|quot|

|ret|The company no longer does retail sales, and it is now in the process of establishing a network of dealers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. SLS International has about 60 dealers and contractors in the United States. Distributors also have been selected in Australia, Japan, France, Korea and England, and each of the distributors supplies 150 to 300 dealers in its respective country.

|ret|The company's plans for post-IPO growth and market diversity include forming strategic alliances with several American and international companies to enhance SLS International's capabilities, increase its product base, and integrate the company's manufacturing and distribution operations.
