The dismissal was entered by the Los Angeles County Superior Court and only applies to SLS. Other defendants in the suit include Pentagram Design Inc., Jibe Audio LLC, former SLS President Steve Lamar and 10 unnamed parties.
Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, and Iovine allege in the lawsuit that an oral contract had been established that would have SLS manufacture and promote headphones designed by the plaintiffs. The suit alleges the contract was breached when SLS attempted to partner with Jibe Audio to distribute the headphones.
SLS CEO John Gott said in a news release today that SLS does not have any pending agreements or arrangements with the other defendants or plaintiffs and only has had a pending licenses agreement with a third party, DGM Audio, to develop a new line of headphones.
“This dismissal was expected to be imminent for some time, as we felt it was apparent that SLS had no involvement in any negotiations with the plaintiffs and the other defendants in this case,” Gott said in the release.
Young and Iovine are seeking at least $1 million in damages and a court injunction blocking production of the headphones.[[In-content Ad]]
