SLICE OF NICE
Successful deer hunters can share the wealth by donating venison to the Missouri Department of Conservation's Share the Harvest program. Bass Pro Shops is sponsoring the program in Greene and Christian counties, and distribution of the donated deer meat will be handled by local charitable agencies. Successful hunters, after paying the processing plant, can donate as much or as little venison as they like. Anyone who donates a whole deer can ask the processor for a Shelter Insurance Processing Payback coupon to receive a $20 reimbursement check from Shelter. Participating Greene County processors are J&L Custom Processing in Walnut Grove and Turner Meat Processing in Fair Grove, and Crosslines of Springfield will distribute the venison. Participating Christian County processors are Highlandville Packing in Highlandville and Ozark Mountain Meats in Ozark, and distribution will be through the Christian County Neighborhood Center.
