Slice of Nice

SLICE OF NICE

Christmas dinner, gifts and an evening of entertainment will be on the menu at Cartoons Oyster Bar & Grill Dec. 17. Approximately 150 11- to 17-year-olds living in group homes under the supervision of the Division of Youth Services will celebrate the holidays at Cartoons with dining, gift certificates, a DJ and dance musice and karaoke. Hazel Walsh, of the Shady Inn, has organized the event for the last 10 years, and this marks the third year Cartoons has participated as host. Donations are being sought to help Walsh, and Cartoons owners Gary and RaeLynn Summers, meet their fund-raising goal of $7,000. The funds raised will be used to purchase Christmas presents for the young people, who come from throughout southwest Missouri. Donations can be made at Cartoons or at the Shady Inn, and the deadline for donations is Dec. 16. For more information, call RaeLynn Summers at 882-5752.
