Local builders know experience makes a great foundation. To that end, the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield gave local college students interested in the building industry $1,000 so they can compete in the International Builder's Show Feb. 9-11 in Atlanta. "They're good kids," said Ed Alden, HBA president. The HBA agreed to match funds raised by the students. "We definitely appreciate their support," said Scott Dettmer, president of the student chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. "We rely on the industry" and the HBA came through. Dettmer said the support makes for better future employees for the builders. The students at Southwest Missouri State University will compete in the residential construction competition. Participants are Dettmer, Lance Lewis, Mark Potthast, Darren Wagner and Jared Walker. |ret||ret||tab|
