Missouri State Treasurer Nancy Farmer Aug. 7 introduced a new Web site address, www.showmemoney.com, for the site designed to help Missourians find and recover abandoned money and assets that are rightfully theirs.
According to a news release from Farmer's office, the Web site allows computer users to search a database of more than 1.2 million names of owners of unclaimed assets being held by the Missouri State Treasurer's Office. The Unclaimed Property Division of the State Treasurer's Office is holding more than $200 million in such assets.
"Our old Internet address had a name only a bureaucrat could love. We've recently registered and put up a new name, www.showmemoney.com, that is much easier to remember and will take users directly to our unclaimed property search site," Farmer said. "And if they find their name, they can even begin the claims process online."
Most unclaimed property is cash from abandoned or forgotten bank accounts, and uncollected checks for refunds, utility deposits or wages from past jobs.
