The Springfield Sister Cities Association, the city of Springfield and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce are responsible for bringing the delegation, which includes some of Tlaquepaque’s city and civic leaders and the Mariachi Juvenil Tapatio de Tlaquepaque band.
The delegation attended a formal greeting ceremony this morning with Mayor Pro Tem Ralph Manley and members of Springfield City Council at the Busch Municipal Building.
The chamber will take the delegation on tours Friday to show them Springfield’s culinary, medical and artistic fields.
Also on Friday, the Mariachi band will perform at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at ArtsFiesta in Founders Park. The group will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday at Artsfest on Walnut Street, and at the free Springfield Symphony pops concert at 7:30 p.m. at Jordan Valley Park.
Admission to ArtsFiesta is $2; and children 10 and under are free. Tickets to Artsfest are $3 if purchased in advance at any area McDonald’s or $5 at the gate.
