Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, parent company of Battlefield Mall, announced this week that a location of athletic gear shop Dick’s House of Sport is scheduled to open in 2027 at the 2825 S. Glenstone Ave. shopping destination.

In a news release, Simon officials said that with the addition of the Springfield store, Simon’s portfolio of properties across the U.S. will comprise 12 Dick’s House of Sport locations.

Dick’s House of Sport is a brand owned by Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc.

“We’re excited to deepen our relationship with Dick’s through the addition of Dick’s House of Sport at Battlefield Mall,” said Mark Silvestri, Simon’s president of development. “This dynamic concept brings elevated sports retail and immersive experiences that will energize the center, drive foot traffic and enhance revenue. It’s a powerful complement to the premier shopping, dining and entertainment that make Battlefield Mall a top destination in the Midwest.”

Dick’s House of Sport describes itself as a leading omni-channel retailer and an iconic brand in sport and culture, according to the release.

Simon officials said in the release that Battlefield Mall receives some 12 million visitors each year. Along with a Dillard’s department store location that opened in 2025, Simon says the future Dick’s House of Sport location solidifies Simon’s commitment “to blending highly coveted retail options with entertainment and community offerings, creating a reimagined shopping experience.”
