Silver Dollar City named best holiday theme park

Posted online

Silver Dollar City was voted by USA Today readers as the best holiday theme park in the United States.

The Branson theme park’s An Old Time Christmas attraction won over 19 others in the poll that ended Dec. 21. The holiday attraction at Silver Dollar City wraps up this year on Dec. 30.

An Old Time Christmas, which features 6.5 million lights, a light parade, a five-story special effects tree and Broadway-style holiday productions, topped the reader poll over such attractions as Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort and Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood.

The only Missouri attraction in the poll, An Old Time Christmas was followed by second-place winner WinterFest at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, and No. 3 Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood. Like Silver Dollar City, Dollywood is operated by Herschend Family Entertainment Corp.

For Silver Dollar City, the recognition marks the second honor this year from USA Today readers. It was named the fourth-best amusement park in the nation in a June poll.
