Silver Dollar City brings in high-wire act

Posted online

Silver Dollar City is bolstering its summer programming with a new high-wire act from Nik Wallenda.

It's a return to the Branson theme park for Wallenda, who around a decade ago performed a stunt where he hung by his jaw from a helicopter 200 feet over the park's amphitheater, according to a news release. This time, he's produced an exclusive show for SDC called Zirkus.

"The impossible is possible. We want to present an inspiring message that 'I can do anything if I set my mind to it,'" Wallenda said in the release. "The wire is my passion and I'm blessed to be able to share that with the world while performing with my family at a place that celebrates families."

In an email announcing the act, SDC Public Relations Director Lisa Rau said the June 11-July 24 show represents a "substantial investment."

Zirkus will feature Wallenda and family members performing high-wire walking, acrobatics, aerial stunts, human pyramids, trick bicycling and juggling, according to the release.
