Silver Dollar City announces plans for $6M ride

Posted online
Branson’s Silver Dollar City this spring will debut a $6 million ride that models traditional barn-swings of the Midwest.

The Giant Swing will feature two compressed-air-powered arms that swing riders 75 feet in the air and drop them at speeds reaching 45 miles per hour. Each arm will have 16 back-to-back seats and will arc nearly 230 degrees.

The attraction, set inside a hay barn, will have a ride capacity of 640 people per hour and is being created by Logan, Utah-based S&S Power.

The Great Swing will be located in the park's new one-acre Great Barn area, behind the Lost River waterway.

The Great Barn area also will feature street shows, themed dining options and two 35-feet silo-themed climbing towers, where riders use rope-pulls to propel themselves 30 feet into the air. Pairs of riders will be able to race to the top of the towers, which rotate to give views of the park, and free-fall back down.

Also new in the spring, White Water, Silver Dollar City’s water park, will debut its biggest ride to date – a seven-story, six-slide attraction. The $1.5 million ride will feature two 300-foot body-drop water slides and four 312-foot racing-lane water slides.

While Silver Dollar City remains open through the winter, the park’s rides will be operational beginning on select days in March and when the regular season starts on April 5. White Water opens May 25.[[In-content Ad]]
