Silicon Valley VC at center of controversial lawsuit

Posted online
A Silicon Valley venture capitalist has been accused of "sexually, physically and emotionally" abusing a woman for 12 years.

Michael Goguen, former managing partner at Sequoia Capital, said in a LinkedIn post he's being extorted after his relationship with the woman went "sour."

The lawsuit alleges Goguen met Amber Laurel Baptiste - who is described as a victim of human trafficking - at a Texas strip club in 2001 when she was 15. According to the lawsuit, Goguen allegedly promised to help her break free but instead forced her into being a sex slave.

After news of the lawsuit broke Friday, Sequoia tweeted it let Goguen go.
