Sigma House of Springfield Inc. announced yesterday it purchased its main residential facility from the Council of Churches of the Ozarks.
The purchase of the 800 S. Park Ave. facility was funded by a $935,000 bond issued through the city of Springfield's Industrial Development Authority. The bond was secured by Empire and Liberty banks. Sigma House had leased the facility from the Council of Churches for $11,000 per month since 2004. It will continue to lease its Branson site, the Larry Simmering Recovery Center, from the Council of Churches, Sigma House Vice President for Advancement Matthew Ennis said this morning.
In addition to the purchase of the Springfield facility., Sigma House also bought low-income U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development apartments adjacent to Sigma House, which were previously owned by Springfield nonprofit The Kitchen Inc. Community Foundation of the Ozarks facilitated the apartment loan, though Ennis declined to disclose the amount.
The deal puts the parcel, including the buildings, under one owner for the first time in its history, according to a news release.
Sigma House of Springfield, which was founded by Council of Churches in 1977, provides addiction recovery services to nearly 1,000 clients a month.[[In-content Ad]]
