Show-Me State gas prices rise during holiday week

Missouri's gas price average rose about 6 cents during the past week to land at $3.08 per gallon today.

Today's average represents a 12-cent uptick from a month ago and a 3-cent increase from the same time last year. However, it sits below the national average of $3.30 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com data.

Missouri ranked No. 9 this morning on GasBuddy's list of the lowest averages in the U.S. At $3 per gallon, Montana held the top spot, with Hawaii bottoming out the list at $3.91 per gallon.

The lowest price for gas in Missouri was available this morning for $2.72 per gallon at four filling stations in Osage Beach. A station in Ladue was selling gas at the most expensive price in the state, $3.49 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's MissouriGasPrices.com.

Springfieldians could buy gas at a low price of $2.96 per gallon at the Sam's Club locations at 3660 E. Sunshine St. and 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive. Low prices elsewhere ranged from $3.06 per gallon to $3.09 per gallon.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $100.32 per barrel as of 9:40 a.m. Light sweet crude oil futures for February were trading at $99.79 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
