Consumers hitting the road for Fourth of July plans might have seen lower gas prices in Missouri.
Prices fell 6 cents per gallon on average during the week ended July 6 to $3.45 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com's survey of 3,940 filling stations in the Show-Me State. Comparatively, the U.S. average decreased 2.3 cents to $3.65 per gallon during the past week, according to a news release.
Missouri prices yesterday represented a 4.7-cent increase from a month ago and 22.9-cent bump from the same day of 2013. The U.S. average decreased 0.7 cents during the past month but rose 17.5 cents during the past year.
At a $3.44 per gallon average this morning, Missouri tied with Oklahoma for sixth on
GasBuddy's list of the lowest averages nationwide. At $3.35 per gallon, South Carolina topped the list, while Hawaii held the bottom spot with an average of $4.33 per gallon.
In Missouri, the lowest price for gas in the state was available for $3.18 per gallon at 12 stations in Columbia. The highest price, $3.79 per gallon, was at a station in south St. Louis, according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
Springfieldians could purchase gas for as low as $3.24 per gallon at the city's two Sam's Club stores, 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive and 3660 E. Sunshine St. Prices elsewhere ranged from $3.32 per gallon to $3.37 per gallon.
