Should you buy the $99 PC from Wal-Mart?

The answer really depends on what you want – and what you can live without.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) currently is selling a Nextbook 8 PC tablet that runs the latest version of Microsoft Corp.'s (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows for $149. On Black Friday, it will sell for just $99.

But CNNMoney reports there are some trade-offs to buying so cheap. It has no built-in mouse or keyboard, the processor isn't great, and it only has 16 gigabytes of memory. But if you are in the market for a cheap tablet, it isn’t bad.

The low-cost move by Microsoft is an effort to combat the Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Chromebook, which can only connect to the Internet, but at $150 has become increasingly popular.
