Sho-Me Power says goodbye to longest-serving execs

Posted online
In an unfortunate coincidence, the two longest-serving chief executives of Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative died within days of each other late last month, taking with them more than a half-century of service to the company.

John K. Davis of Springfield, who had been the Marshfield-based electric cooperative’s CEO since 1975, died Oct. 25 of complications from cancer. He was 65.

Four days later, Charles E. Boulson of Springfield – one of the cooperative’s founders – died. He had just celebrated his 97th birthday.

On Nov. 1, the Sho-Me Power Board of Directors named Ancel Fry the interim general manager until Davis’ successor is chosen. Fry manages the administrative services department.

A memorial service for Davis was held Monday at National Avenue Christian Church, and a graveside service for Boulson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marshfield Cemetery.
