Shawnee will consider $23.8M in incentives for Dick's-anchored center

Posted online
Shawnee, Kan., will get a new 50,000-square-foot Dick's Sporting Goods store if the city plays ball with developers of the proposed Shawnee Landing shopping center.

Shawnee City Council is scheduled Feb. 23 to consider an incentives package for the 26-acre project, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

The development would include 145,000 square feet of inline retail and seven pad sites totaling roughly 33,000 more square feet.

To help defray the costs of the $56.3 million project, developers are requesting $19.3 million in tax increment financing and the authority to collect an additional 0.5 percent sales tax at the site for up to 22 years.
