Shawnee Mission Medical Center to receive $35M upgrade

The $35 million first phase of a three-part capital project to improve the first floor of the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan., began Monday.

Construction, which is being led by Kansas City-based JE Dunn Construction, includes new offices, high-tech conference rooms, a physicians’ lounge and updated dining areas. It's scheduled to be complete in fall 2016.

The cost of construction in the initial phase is expected to be $25 million and facility equipment is projected to cost $10 million. A second phase is slated to run $25 million and details for the third phase have yet to be released.
