Shareholders filed a federal lawsuit against Leawood, Kansas-based Tortoise Capital Advisors.
The suit alleges mismanagement in the loss of more than $1 billion in two funds in 2020.
Officials with Tortoise said the allegations are without merit and that it plans to defend itself.
