Shaping Community with a Heart of Service

Posted online

“There’s a sense of satisfaction that’s gained from a career in public service. It’s an organic side effect of the work,” says Amie Davis, Senior Human Resources Specialist at the City of Springfield. “Employees at the City are just like other employees, but our work has a heart of service.“

“The City of Springfield provides public services with great customer service,” says Davis. “We work hard and we want to be proud of the end results.” The City of Springfield is comprised of a collective of more than 20 functionally diverse departments, all of which make an impact daily in Springfield. City leaders empower teams to share their diverse perspectives, provide extraordinary customer service, and work as a team to serve Springfield. “Our leaders have laid the foundation for great service to be our focus,” says Davis.

Every employee is tasked with ensuring that every area of the city has access to city services. The City is the nucleus for a variety of community resources and programs, which means the team serves the entire community each and every day. “From our Environmental Services department’s passion to protect the natural resources of Springfield to our Parks’ Sister Cities team, which brings diversity and culture to the community, we have made a strong and conscious commitment to better every nook and cranny in Springfield,” says Davis.

“At the end of the day we know we’ve made an impact and feel a sense of accomplishment. Every City of Springfield department is staffed by a top-notch team of innovative professionals who do work that really makes a difference.”

The City of Springfield provides a competitive benefits package including medical insurance and a pension program that is 100% non-contributory by the employee, as well as considerable paid leave time. “These benefits are impressive, and not to be minimized,” says Davis, “but the best selling point is having a part in shaping the community we all love, and doing our best to make it better for every citizen.”
